Project scope
Heuristic UX audit
Evaluated the website’s usability, content hierarchy, and navigation.
Information architecture
Structured lending solutions and platform information for easier discovery.
Visual design
Designed high-fidelity screens for key website pages.
Design system
Established consistent layouts, typography, colours, and reusable components.
Accessibility
Considered readable content, accessible contrast, and clear interaction states.
Stakeholder alignment
Aligned website messaging with Mortgage Cadence’s brand and business goals.
Discovery
6 problems found in the audit
A heuristic audit uncovered six key issues across design, content, and usability. From complex mortgage technology messaging and inconsistent visual hierarchy to limited product visibility and unclear user journeys, the website made it difficult for lenders to understand the platform’s capabilities and identify the right solutions for their needs.
01
Complex product messaging
Mortgage technology and loan origination capabilities were difficult to understand quickly. Dense content made it challenging for visitors to identify the platform’s key benefits.
02
Inconsistent visual hierarchy
Headings, content blocks, and visual elements lacked a clear hierarchy, making pages harder to scan and important information less prominent.
03
Unclear solution discovery
The range of lending solutions and platform capabilities was not easy to navigate. Visitors needed a clearer way to find information relevant to their lending needs.
04
Limited product visibility
The website needed stronger product visuals and interface demonstrations to help potential customers understand the platform beyond its written descriptions.
05
Complex information architecture
The breadth of mortgage technology offerings created a dense content experience. Related information needed a more logical structure to help visitors understand the platform.
06
Unclear conversion paths
Calls to action and next steps needed greater prominence and consistency, helping visitors move from exploring solutions to requesting a demo or contacting the team.
Design Rationale
From Problems to Design Decisions
The audit revealed opportunities to better communicate Mortgage Cadence’s loan origination platform and its role in the mortgage lending process. I translated these findings into three design priorities: simplifying complex lending information, making platform capabilities more tangible, and helping lenders navigate solutions relevant to their business.
01
Simplifying Lending Information
Organised complex mortgage technology content into clearer sections, making loan origination capabilities and platform benefits easier for lenders to scan, understand, and evaluate.
02
Showcasing Platform Capabilities
Strengthened the presentation of product features and platform functionality through clearer visual hierarchy and more purposeful content, helping visitors understand the technology behind the offering.
03
Guiding Lender Journeys
Refined the navigation, solution pathways, and calls to action to help lenders find relevant information, explore lending channels, and move towards the next step with greater clarity.
Before & After
The visual transformation
The redesign introduced a cleaner visual hierarchy, consistent typography, and intentional whitespace, replacing a dense stats grid with scannable metric cards and a dedicated demo section that guides enterprise buyers through the product without friction.

Reflection
What I learnt
Redesigning Mortgage Cadence challenged me to think beyond how a website looks. It highlighted how a digital experience must communicate business value, build confidence in complex technology, and support decisions that take time.
01
Technology needs a human story
Mortgage technology can be difficult to communicate without getting lost in technical details. I learnt to connect platform capabilities to the larger story of how lenders work, rather than simply presenting a list of features.
02
A website is part of the sales conversation
In enterprise businesses, the website often introduces a product long before a sales call. Its job is to answer early questions, establish credibility, and give potential customers enough context to decide whether to learn more.
03
Visual design shapes perceived value
The way a platform is presented influences how people perceive its sophistication and relevance. Typography, colour, layout, and imagery need to work together to express the value of the technology, not just make the interface look modern.
04
Redesign starts with prioritisation
A website can contain extensive information without communicating what matters most. The challenge is deciding which messages deserve attention, what users need first, and how each section contributes to the bigger picture.
